Sometimes inspiration lies right on our doorstep.

Mosman in Focus is a collection of black and white portrait photographs and interviews that celebrate the people whose journeys brought them to a once-sleepy village and made them an integral part of its now thriving multicultural neighbourhood.

There are many stories never told, lives never examined, and journeys forgotten. It’s why family albums are so precious. They show our trail. Mosman in Focus is a tribute to the hidden heroes of everyday life, unearthing a rich and diverse community graced with captivating people whose stories are as fascinating as they are heartwarming.

It’s never easy being photographed. The moments captured can often reveal truths far greater than anticipated. Black and white photography invites silent conversations with the subjects, as we scan the image for details and gather stories from their eyes, the folds in their faces, and the details in the light and the shadows.

Denise and Trish tip their hats to the many Mosmanites who have allowed themselves to be publicly showcased in this way. This exhibition is dedicated to them.
